OMNIPLEX World Services Corporation named in 2010 Black Enterprise 100 List of the Nation’s Largest Black Businesses June 1, 2010
OMNIPLEX is ranked number 38, a dramatic 10 point elevation compared to 2009, among industrial/service businesses on the Black Enterprise magazine's list of top 100 black-owned companies in the nation, the BE 100.
The BE 100s make up the largest black-owned businesses based upon surveys from thousands of companies and information from scores of government agencies, professional and industry associations, business information services, and corporations. To qualify, the company must be at least 51% black-owned and have been fully operational for the previous calendar year.
The Black Enterprise magazine feature article made the point that the Legendary Chinese military general Sun Tzu once said, “Opportunities multiply as they are seized.” Never has that assertion been more important than in 2009, when the business environment was as unmerciful as anything the author of The Art of War may have seen on a battlefield.
Many entrepreneurs, including OMNIPLEX Founder and Chairman, Julien Patterson, contended with the economic downturn with old tried-and-true strategies: cost-cutting and identifying new revenue streams. “We always look at growth opportunities—both organic and through acquisitions— but this year we have intensified our focus on improving the delivery of our core capabilities,” he said.
As a result of this strategic decision, Mr. Patterson reported that he and his management team continue to plan three and five years ahead, but in addition, have definitized the adjusted business model to ensure its effectiveness in the current economic climate. Mr. Patterson said, “Our planning and analysis led us to operationally drill down and determine how to best guide the company to further maximize the efficiency of our current talent, as well as better lead and communicate with our team to assure them that we are moving the business in the right direction to not just survive, but to thrive in this ‘changed’ economy.”
