Company will Co-Host the Virginia Business Opportunity Fair (VBOF) February 9, 2006
OMNIPLEX's Mr. Julien G. Patterson, President & CEO, is Co-Hosting the Virginia Business Opportunity Fair (VBOF) with the Philip Morris Company which will be held May 7-9, at the Westfield Marriott Washington Dulles Conference Center, Chantilly, Virginia. The VBOF is the largest minority business conference on the east coast; it links large Government contractors and corporations with minority- owned businesses to assist them with procurement activities.
The Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council (VMSDC) organizes this annual event each year and it is normally held in Richmond, Virginia. It was decided this year that after 16 years in Richmond that it would be moved to Northern Virginia. Northern Virginia is the largest business center in the state and is home to 131 certified minority businesses, 15 member corporations of the VMSDC and three Government entities that support VMSDC. OMNIPLEX has been a certified member of VMSDC for 13 years.
The primary purpose of VMSDC is to promote and facilitate the development of business relationships between its large business corporate members and certified minority-owned enterprises. The goals of VMSDC are to expand business opportunities for minority-owned companies and to help build a stronger, more equitable society by supporting and promoting minority business development.
Minority businesses interested in taking advantage of VMSDC programs and services are required to complete a certification process to determine whether the company is owned and controlled by a person representing a racial minority group. VMSDC has more than 200 corporate members and over 500 certified minority businesses. OMNIPLEX World Services Corporation has been certified by VMSDC as a minority-owned business since 1990.
